CF PARIOLI – Viale Parioli, Rome
Most urban infrastructures, such as water, sewage, electricity or waste management systems are physically beneath the surface of cities, which makes them literally invisible. Even when urban infrastructures are noticeable, their continuous normalized use creates a deep taken-forgrantedness that further contributes to their invisibility. After the act of consumption and disposal, infrastructures such as bins, waste rooms, landfills or incinerators participate in the transformation of the overflow of discarded products into waste. This project, inspired by Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities wishes to proclaim these hidden systems.
