Located on the top floor of the building, in what once served as the service quarters, the Fleming Penthouse stands as an elevated retreat that celebrates light, openness, and contemporary living. The project by NOS reimagined the original layout by opening the internal spaces and expanding the windows, allowing natural light to permeate every corner and offering a sweeping 360-degree view of the city, with Saint Peter’s Basilica emerging in the distance as a symbolic backdrop.
The intervention aimed to create an environment that feels both refined and intimately connected to its surroundings.
The generous window surfaces redefine the perception of the interior, visually extending the rooms outward and creating a continuous dialogue between indoor space and the urban landscape.
Taking advantage of the apartment’s position and height, a winter garden was added adjacent to the main volume: a luminous extension of the kitchen designed to evoke the sensation of outdoor living even during the colder months. This glazed environment not only increases functional space but also contributes to a serene, suspended atmosphere, where light plays the leading role.
Materials and finishes were chosen to maintain harmony with the architecture’s essential lines, enhancing the penthouse’s modern feel while preserving the authenticity of the existing structure.
The result is a dwelling marked by elegance, where each element is connected to the others to create a unified, welcoming environment.
The Fleming Penthouse becomes not just a living space, but a vantage point over the city, a private refuge that celebrates Rome’s timeless skyline.
